Executive Chairman of Southern Ijaw LGA


CHIEF REMEMBER PABRAIBI NICHOLAS OGBE was born in 1958 at Ekowe town in Southern ijaw local Government area in Bayelsa State. He is from Bietebiama, Amassoma Town, all in Southern Ijaw Local Government area in Bayelsa State, Nigeria.

He attended St. Banabas State Primary School at Oweikorogha and obtained his First Leaving School Certificate in 1974.

He also attended Government Secondary School Ukubie where he obtained his West African Examination Council Certificate in 1980. He graduated from University of Science and Technology Port-Harcourt in 2002.

Chief Remember Ogbe has been involved in the business of human development. He was a Tutor at Community Secondary School Ebedebiri, Sagbama Local Gov’t area in Bayelsa state from 1981 to 1986.

He was a Public Relation Officer at Rivbank Insurance Company Limited from 1993 to 1996. Upon the creation of Bayelsa State, Chief Ogbe was appointed a Revenue Generation Adviser, Creek Ventures limited, Bayelsa State Government in 1997. He has been in and out of politics during this period.

In old Rivers State, he served as a Councillor elect, Amassoma Ward 1 in Yenagoa Local Government area (YELGA) from 1988 to 1989. In this capacity, Chief Ogbe represented his people and carried out some developmental projects. He also served as Supervisory Councillor for works and transportation in Yenagoa LGA in the old Rivers State 1988. He contributed to ensure that transport facilities were made available in the area. In 1989, he served as Supervisory Councillor for Health and Social Welfare. Chief Ogbe served his people with humility and unwavering commitment at the third-tier of government. One thing is central –Chief Ogbe’s life is one dedicated to the service of God and humanity. His slow and steady progression on the leadership ladder lends credence to the fact that God has given him a manifest mandate to fulfil.


Upon the formation of the Bayelsa Progressive Movement, BPM, in 2000 he became the Treasurer of the Movement from 2000 to 2011. In 2011, Chief Remember Ogbe became the State Director of the Bayelsa Progressive Movement (BPM), a position he has maintained till date. It is essential to note that the Bayelsa Progressive Movement, BPM, is a NGO used to aggregate the interest of the development forces in Bayelsa State towards the building of a virile and dynamic Bayelsa State. BPM has played that role and contributed to the emergence of the Restoration Administration. Chief Ogbe was also Chairman of The Nigeria Project (TNP), which seeks to build an egalitarian society – where every citizen will see Nigeria as a nation devoid of ethnicity, tribalism and sectional interests.


Chief Remember Ogbe is not just a Christian but a religious leader. From 1985 to 2005, he was an elder in the Assemblies of God Church. He became General Overseer, The Word of God Evangelical Ministry Worldwide from 2006 to date, thus providing spiritual leadership to his flocks.

He was appointed Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Bayelsa State on Millennium Development Goals, MDGs on 5th of April 2012, In this capacity, he has coordinated the execution of several community development projects across the eight Local Government Councils of Bayelsa State.

Been a grassroots man, Chief Ogbe resigned as SSA to the Governor of Bayelsa State on MDGs on 15th October 2012 and contested for and was elected Chairman of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area Council at the March 23rd, 2013 Council Polls. He was sworn-in to office on April 6th, 2013.

From the experience paraded by Chief Remember Ogbe, it is obvious he has traversed the political spectrum for upwards of three decades. He has worked hard to attain greatness. The Chairman of the biggest LGA in Nigeria is warm, receptive to new idea and has a penchant for innovation. He is a team player who understands the psychology of the human mind.

He is an accomplished family man with high family values. Chief Ogbe is a bridge between the old and the new; he also provides a link between the two. His experience in life and leadership provides a strong pedestal for him to lead his people with the Wisdom of Solomon. There is no doubt that he will bring his experience to bear on his thoughts and actions.

It was Leroy Eimes who said “A leader is one who sees more than others see who sees farther than others see, and who sees before others see”. The task of leadership is not to put greatness into people, but to elicit it, for the greatness is there already. Chief Remember Ogbe is imbued with the leadership acumen and vision to transform Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.
